2024 - 2025
January 2025 - Ailish Henderson presented a talk "Narrative Textiles" via zoom. A lovely telling of her story on how she has enjoyed using embroidery to capture moments and people in her life.
December 2024 - Christmas party and we each made a Holly gift tag and swapped our embroidered Christmas cards.
October 2024 - Gillian Cooper, textile artist, visited the group to talk about transfer printing and showed us examples of her work where she embroidered onto her original fabric prints.
October 2024 - We enjoyed a workshop on disperse dyeing, presented by Alison, a member of our group. A fun couple of evenings!
September 2024 - Workshop evening with Patricia West was with us to do a recycling/upcycling workshop. Working on embroidery hoops we created bright and colourful displays using washers, netting, fabric scraps, buttons and much more.
2022 - 2023
April 2023 - we had a wonderful talk from Pat Archibald. Lots of beautiful work on display.
March 2022 - We enjoyed a presentation from Joanna Kinnersley-Taylor, Textile Artist and Designer, Glasgow. Fabulous work on display and an insightful talk (below)
March 2022 - CREST was fortunate to have a stand at the SEC, Glasgow. We had a large display of our work which was much admired by visitors (below)
Monday 13th December 2021 - We all had a terrific night at our Christmas Meeting. We enjoyed some snacks, juice, scrumptious mince pies (thanks Nancy), quiz and prizes (thanks Elaine), lovely tables (thanks Susan and Ann). Well done to the three winners to our Christmas Challenge....First place Nancy Cameron, Second Place Elaine Salt and Third place Fiona
On Monday 29th November, we all enjoyed making our own gnome for Christmas. A super night and thanks to Elaine Salt for the earlier demo.
On Monday 8th November we started our regular Stitch Corner hosted by Toni Hanley and Elaine MacLachlan. Lots of examples provided by Toni and Elaine and a fun night was had by all. Our next Stitch Corner evening is 6th November (flystitch).
Pat Kedslie was the 'winner' of a sewing advent calendar for her leaf piece made for our 'Autumn Glory' Challenge. Well done Pat.
(Above) on Monday 1st November 2021, we had the lovely Deborah Campbell with her talk entitled 'Coastal Connections'. She had a wide selection of her work (above) and we all enjoyed the evening. Deborah lives in Kilmacolm and moved there from the borders a year ago. She does workshops and her website is deborahcampbell.com
